Do not try to go blonde right away-you have to go down in stages...from light brown to blonde...dark hair has a lot of pigment to lift out and if you try to do it in one stage you will end up with clown hair, texture and color..What will a Golden Blonde hair color do to my very dark brown hair?

If you are trying to use it over your dark brown hair with out bleaching it first it will just turn a brassy red color. Try using a high lift color, but they don't work all that well either. Good Luck

Not muchh. Made it a bit red maybe. You'll need to bleach it if you want it to really be golden brown, or anything lighter than your hair is now
Having watched both my mom and a few good friends try this, I don't recommend doing it yourself. In spite of commercials it isn't easy to lighten dark hair significantly. In order to go from dark brown to blonde you're going to need to bleach your hair. Its hard to do that at home without drying out your hair or turning it some color meant for comedies about horrible hair stylists. I suggest you find yourself an excellent stylist with experience in bleaching/coloring hair. The ability to cut hair is not always an indicator of ability to color hair. Be sure to ask for references. Most stylists have pictures of their own work. Better yet go to the salon and ask some of the other clients who they like and why.
