Brunette going blonde hair color help?

I have light brown hair with blonde streaks in it naturally. I want my hair to be blonde all over. It seems like every time I try to get it blonde, my hair turns a coppery redish brown. People say it looks good on me, but I want it to be blonde not red. Last time I tried Honey Blonde and Light Ash Blonde (it looked nothing like the picture on the box) and now I want to try and get it to be golden blonde, but I don't want to have to bleach it. I am afraid it might either turn red on me or I may end up having trashy looking hair that is ';Kraft macaroni and cheese yellow';.

I kinda like Carrie Underwood's hair.

What shade of blonde should I try?

You should go to a hairstylist and get it professionally done. You will not be able to achieve the result you want by using a box.... if you have color on your hair at all it will need to be bleached... color does NOT lift color. The lift that the box color is producing does not seem sufficient for your hair level(The level system classifies how dark or light your hair is) or because your hair is not virgin (has been previously colored)

Find a good hairstylist... you get what you pay for. Bring a picture with you also so they can get an idea of what you are looking for.
if you want to lighten your hair to blonde you're gonna have to bleach it first to get it to the right color. It's gonna keep getting either copper or orangie if you don't do it right. It's better if you go to a salon so you don't over process your hair.
you need to see a professional. going blonde is hard to do from a box coloring kit. if you need something less expensive head over to your local beauty school where they give discounted prices
If you had studied hair colouring at all, you would know that colours never look like they do on the box! They can't. You have to take into account the colour of your own hair; the hair in the picture is on WHITE hair... you have to consider your own colour too.

If you are going to go lighter, you have to bleach. This has been explained so many times already! It's impossible to get lighter without a bleach. The blondes you have used have bleach in them... everyone knows that. How do you think they get lighter??

Also, when you were studying colouring, you would have known that any time you lighten hair, you are going to get red/orange -- that is only normal. You need to review the 7 levels of lightening. There is nothing to worry about... that is the way it works.

And yes, you have to bleach it out to pale yellow. Then you put on a toner to get the shade you wanted. Didn't they cover this in your hair colouring classes? Did you miss that section? This is basic colouring 101.

When in doubt, you really should have this done by a professional colourist. It seems you are having some problems understanding what is going on, and you need someone else to do it for you. Much better chance of success that way.
